Firmware Updates
INTERGRID Configurator includes a built-in firmware library and flashing tool. You can check for updates, flash new firmware, or load a local firmware file — all from within the app.
Checking for Updates
With a device connected, the Device page shows your current firmware version. If a newer version is available in the firmware library, an update notification appears.
You can also browse available firmware at any time from the Firmware page in the sidebar.
Updating Firmware
To update a connected device's firmware:
- Navigate to the firmware update section on the Device page.
- If an update is available, click Update.
- The Configurator handles the entire process automatically:
- Backup — Your current settings (EEPROM) are saved.
- Flash — The new firmware is written to the device.
- Verify — The written firmware is verified against the source.
- Restore — Your settings are restored from the backup.
A progress indicator shows each phase as it completes.
Do not unplug the USB cable or close the browser while a firmware update is in progress. Interrupting the flash can leave the device in an unusable state.
Firmware Library
The Firmware page provides a searchable table of all available firmware releases.
Each entry shows:
- Version — The firmware version number
- Release Type — Stable or Beta
- Target Model — The device model this firmware is built for
- Summary — A brief description of changes
- Release Date — When the firmware was published
Filtering and Searching
- Use the family and model filters to narrow the list to firmware compatible with your device.
- Use the search field to find specific versions or keywords across all firmware metadata.
Flashing from the Library
To flash a specific firmware version from the library:
- Go to the Firmware page.
- Find and select the firmware version you want to flash.
- Select the target device(s) — if multiple devices are connected via passthrough, you can choose which ones to update.
- The Configurator checks compatibility with your device. If the selected firmware is for a different model, a warning is shown.
- If you're flashing an older version than what's currently installed, a downgrade confirmation dialog appears.
- Confirm to begin the flash process (backup → flash → verify → restore).
Manual Firmware Flash
For advanced users, the Configurator supports flashing firmware from a local file.
- Select the manual flash option.
- Choose a firmware file from your computer (
.binor.hexformat). - Select the target device(s).
- Confirm and begin flashing.
Manual firmware files are not verified for compatibility with your device. Flashing an incompatible firmware file can cause the device to malfunction. Only use firmware files from trusted sources that you have confirmed are correct for your hardware.
Important Warnings
- Maintain a stable connection throughout the entire flash process. Use a reliable USB cable connected directly to your computer — avoid USB hubs if possible.
- Do not disconnect the device, close the browser tab, or put your computer to sleep during a flash.
- If a flash fails, the Configurator will attempt to automatically recover. If the device becomes unresponsive, try reconnecting and reflashing. In most cases, the bootloader remains intact and the device can be reflashed.
- Always keep a settings backup — export your configuration before updating firmware, even though the Configurator backs up and restores settings automatically.
